This part isn't as complicated as it may seem.  It is the male part that fits anything low pressure (garden hose) related.  These are available in both stainless and brass.  This is the stainless steel version.

Although we certainly don't need stainless steel for these low pressure fittings, I like them because they corrode much less than brass. 

This Quick Disconnect Plug can be used for the following:

• Inlet of 6.5' Inlet Hose
• Inlet of Kranzle Pressure Washer
• Inlet and Outlet of Braided Hose that comes with CR Spotless Deionizer
