CP batteries are the lightest and most compact.
XC battery packs, or “Extended Capacity”, are for your mid sized tools. M18 XC batteries can provide tools a boost in performance, if only by a little bit.
HD battery packs, or “High Demand” are for the longest use times, and run less hot. This is for stuff like table saws, miter saws, etc.
