The AVRO is the latest discovery from the DRYCE Lab. As the name implies, this thing uses lasers to strip and clean metal, and oh yeah, it's a backpack. In AVRO's words, it "Uses the thermal ablation, shock, and vibration of light to decontaminate the surface of the material." What that means to you is it projects a laser, and the rust is blasted off.

Much like dry ice cleaning, it takes some skill to get a good surface finish, but if you are already used to the methodical work of dry-ice cleaning, this will be familiar to you. I am not sure I would buy this just for my home garage, especially considering the price tag, but if I were running a dry ice shop, this would be a great "Add-On" to your regular services.
